NRAMA: You had a lengthy run on Amazing Spider-Man a few years before taking the Ultimate Spider-Man gig, and had made it known you were worn out on the character. What made this version more interesting?
MB: In the beginning, nothing! I turned it down a couple of times, because I just didn’t want to do Spidey again, -- particularly a “revamp.” Byrne had just done his and it had gone over like a fart in church with the fans.
